About the founder

Brian's Vision

After four decades of working for the largest pest control companies in the world both in residential and commercial, I noticed something, I had seen there was far too much waste . I decided to do something different, to educate, empower, and inform homeowners about how everyday choices affect pest activity in and around their homes and businesses. Pest Shield reflects that mission: give people a clear plan, and teach you how to use pesticides only when needed, and use pesticides only when appropriate, in precise amounts and locations.

Our Story

One day, while talking with my daughter, she showed me the syllabus for her first year of college. I was so proud of her.

As we discussed her classes, I said, “I could create something like this to help people.” Helping others has always been my passion — finding ways to give back.

At the time, CSN, the community college in Las Vegas, regularly sent out newsletters listing available courses for each upcoming semester. That inspired me to create a class that would teach homeowners how to care for their homes, save money, reduce risk, and be more effective with their pest control efforts.

So, I wrote out my idea and submitted it. I was thrilled when I received a call from the school letting me know my class had been approved!

I went to work purchasing the same formulations.

Purchasing the same formulations of products. Granules, baits, dust, aerosols and residuals. The goal was to show that the professionals use the same formulations. And the only difference was the percentage amount of active ingredients. The label classification from the E.P.A. was the same, a general use product. All general use products don't require a licensed applicator. And that makes most products available to you the homeowner! And we can help you acquire the very products used by the professionals!

During the class, I explained how the things we do in and around our homes directly affect pest activity. The students were amazed by how simple changes could make such a difference.

After the course ended, I started receiving letters from students telling me they were having far fewer pest sightings — some even said they no longer needed monthly pest control services!
